Hospital No. 19 Joins the LUZ Project

The continuous growth of hospitals joining the LUZ Project reflects the expanding reach and impact of this research initiative. So far this year, two new institutions have been incorporated. In this month’s edition, we are especially pleased to welcome Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe, located in Medellín, Colômbia. The inclusion of this hospital contributes to strengthening the Hispanic American scope envisioned by the ICLOBY Foundation from its inception. It also highlights the strong potential for continued growth in Colombia. With this addition, two institutions from the country are now participating in the research, both located in major capital cities: Bogotá and Medellín.

For the people of Medellín, Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe is a source of pride and a true symbol of the city. Since its founding in 1970, the institution has been defined by its commitment to medical excellence and human-centered care, combining advanced technology with compassionate and personalized treatment. Its slogan, “A Hospital with a Soul,”reflects the values that have positioned it as one of the most important healthcare institutions in Colombia

The hospital is named after Dr. Pablo Tobón Uribe, a regional philanthropist who allocated part of his estate to make this institution possible. Hoje, due to its academic and university-affiliated character, the hospital serves as a training center for students in medicine, nursing, nutrition, psicologia, microbiology, and administrative fields from across Colombia, while also hosting international professionals through internship and exchange programs.

With approximately 650 camas, the hospital has received multiple recognitions from organizations in Colombia and across Latin America—not only for its medical excellence, but also for its quality of service, family-responsible organizational practices, and strong reputation among its employees.

We warmly welcome Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe and include the updated list of hospitals currently participating in this research.
