Filomena Araújo is a nurse who, throughout her professional career, has cared for patients of different ages and at different stages of the life cycle in hospital settings. Atualmente, her work focuses on providing palliative care in patients’ homes, particularly to adults, including those approaching the end of life.
Accompanying people during their final moments has shown her the importance of bringing a profoundly human dimension to her role as a nurse. For Filomena, this means caring with love and compassion and offering a more conscious and mindful presence to those in her care. From this perspective, accompanying someone through this process represents both a great responsibility and a privilege, as these are moments in which the human dimension reveals itself in a particularly profound way.
Nesta entrevista, Filomena shares several experiences involving her patients before, at the moment of, and after death, and explains why these signs have led her to understand that death is not the end of life.
