Professional background
Cardiologist.
During 26 years has worked in a university hospital in Arnhem, Netherlands, and now he's doing full-time research on the mind-brain relationship.
In 2005 He received the Research Award Dr.. Bruce Greyson of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS).
In 2006, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the President of India, at the World Congress of Clinical and Preventive Cardiology in New Delhi.
His book "Endless Consciousness" was nominated for the “book of the year” in 2008 in the Netherlands.
In 2010 Received the Scientific and Medical Network Book Award, and the 2017, the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Award from the Dutch Society of Volunteers in Palliative and Terminal Care.
In December of 2021 was awarded the 2nd Prize from the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies (BICS) for his "Essay on the Continuity of Consciousness".
