Isabel Heraso

The Truth from the Other Side

“When they told me, ‘You are on the other side,’ I felt as if I were standing before a tribunal that was about to review my life. Without thinking, I began listing everything I had studied, the adventures I had experienced in Algeria, in the desert, and other stories — all with the intention of showing my achievements. But as I spoke, each one of them dissolved like dust, as if they were not enough or truly meaningful… and so they faded away. In that moment, I received the first lesson from my NDE — one that has accompanied me for the rest of my life.”

With this initial description of what happened during her first NDE, Dr. Heraso reflects — together with Dr. Luján Comas — on how she has had to reconcile her rational, material-based worldview with a spiritual dimension that, as a scientist, was difficult for her to accept, and how these transformations have influenced her professional practice. She also shares details of her experiences and the many lessons that emerged from them.
