Amit Goswami
Professional background
I graduated in 1964 at the University of Calcutta as a PhD in Quantum Physics. Since 1968 has worked in the United States as a professor at the University of Oregon. After retiring in 2003, began to dedicate himself to the study of parapsychology and dedicated himself to the “quantum activism” to promote their theories and connect science with consciousness.
Lives in Eugene, Oregon, EE. UU., with his wife Maggie Goswami, who wrote the book with “Cosmic Dancers: Exploring the Physics of Science Fiction”. Has published 21 articles on quantum physics. He has also written a large number of articles in medical journals., economics and psychology. Goswami shows in his articles how the relationship between consciousness and the physical world can be investigated using quantum physics.. Goswami is the author of the textbook “Quantum mechanics”, which is used as standard work in quantum mechanics courses around the world. Nevertheless, He was best known for his book “The self-aware universe: how consciousness creates the material universe”, published in 1993. In this book he strives to achieve a combination of quantum physics and spirituality. (quantum mysticism).
He also appeared in the movie “What the Bleep do we Know!?”. Amit Goswami is a Fellow of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, an American institution that tries to understand the connection between the subjective inner world of people and the shared objective reality. He is a defender of substituting materialism for consciousness as the basis of the world, trying to achieve a combination of quantum physics and spirituality (quantum mysticism). Critics of this perspective argue that a mathematical description of consciousness can also be achieved through theories other than quantum physics..
